Emer practices in employment law and litigation. She represents clients across a broad spectrum of industries and size, from start-up enterprises and SME’s, to large private companies in the retail, aviation and recruitment sectors.
In the employment law context from working both in private practice and in-house, Emer has experience in advising on all facets of the employment relationship from managing challenging interpersonal issues to dismissals and redundancies. She is experienced in drafting contracts, and policies and procedures for employers. She frequently advises both employees and employers on contentious matters where the employment relationship has broken down.
Emer regularly advises clients with equality and employment law cases before the Employment Appeals Tribunal, the Labour Court, Equality Tribunal and the courts.
Emer’s experience lies in advising clients from the early stages of crisis prevention to the latter stages of negotiation and court representation. This requires strategic top drawer pre-litigation guidance, always working towards the optimum result for her client. If the dispute results in court proceedings, Emer has the knowledge and skill to manage large scale and complex litigation.
Emer is a qualified solicitor in Ireland, having trained and worked in the litigation and dispute resolution team of a top tier Irish law firm for a number of years post qualification.
Consultant Tax Advisor
Kieran Kennelly is the firm’s taxation consultant and advises on a wide range of employment taxation issues.
Kieran has a B.C.L. (1994) and a Higher Diploma in Accounting Information Systems (1996) from U.C.C. He is also an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute (2001) and holds a B.L. from Kings Inns (2005).
He worked in the taxation department of a “Big 4” accountancy firm for 7 years where he dealt with tax compliance and tax planning issues for noteworthy multinational, national and local companies as well as high net worth individuals. Kieran was the head of the taxation department of a local medium sized accounting firm for 5 years before establishing Clarus Taxation in 2011.
Being dually qualified as a barrister and tax consultant, Kieran is ideally placed to advise clients in relation to corporate taxation issues that arise in the course of managing employees on a day to day basis.
Kieran has recently advised clients in relation to the following matters:
- tax compliant structuring of transfers of undertakings
- the sale and purchase of businesses where taxation issues in respect of employees arise
- partnership taxation matters
- redundancy programmes and
- termination of employment agreements.
Niamh Walsh is a Trainee Solicitor with Crowley Solicitors.
Niamh has assisted in advising clients in the areas of complex and protracted data protection matters, the preparation of documents for internal investigations, disciplinary and appeal processes, and the preparation of briefs for hearings. Niamh assists all fee earners on the team in advising clients on a wide range of employment law and litigation matters to include matters coming before adjudication officers, the newly configured Labour Court and the Civil Courts.
Niamh is a graduate of University College Cork having completed a BCL and an LLM. Niamh also holds a Diploma in Employment Law from the Law Society of Ireland. Niamh is currently completing her traineeship and is due to attend the second part of her professional training course in the Law Society of Ireland in April 2016.

Monessa joined the firm in 2014 as our Relationship and Accounts Manager, after 30 years of working with The Bank of Ireland. Monessa is a key contact for all of our clients.
