Sectors

We take a partnership approach, ensuring we are with you from start to finish.

Overview

Outsourcing is a key growth area in Ireland. We currently advise innovative and fast growing companies in this sector on their employee management, data protection, dispute resolution and litigation processes. We are also experienced in handling full employment law and HR compliance audits in respect of contracts, policies and procedures for these and other cutting edge businesses. As attrition rates in staff are typically variable to high in this sector, we work with our clients to bolt down contractual arrangements with senior management and to provide on call advice to HR professionals tasked with managing high volume case loads and often, complex HR and employment law issues.

By taking ownership of queries referred to us by HR, Operations and the Board of these Companies, we assist them in managing their time, their people and their own unique culture.

Experience

We have particular expertise in advising this sector on competing legal considerations in the provision of services to the public sector. We also advise outsourcing companies of the legal issues that arise in placing workers directly in the public sector.

Overview

This sector is all about leadership, innovation and creativity. It is fast moving, responsive and exciting. We engage proactively with our clients in this sector, by being future focused, lean and proactive.

We are very proud to be associated with companies in this sector who have been awarded places amongst the Best Workplaces in Ireland 2015.

Experience

We have experience in advising small, medium and large multi national employers in the technology sectors on a wide range of employment, equality and industrial relations issues. We offer support to HR teams and Operations teams on both contentious issues and day to day internal issues as they arise. Recognising the time poor and high performance outputs required by our clients, we work with them to preempt issues and where possible, to case manage matters in advance.

Overview

We provide legal services to many specialist recruitment consultancies. This industry is particularly in tune with the requirement for high level employment law compliance and has contributed to the law in relation to the appropriate use of restraint of trade clauses, non solicitation clauses and the development of agency workers legislation in Ireland. As a sector specifically tasked with productive and lean people management, we support this goal by ensuring the availability and expertise of experienced legal advisers.

We understand that our employment and recruitment agency clients need to focus on candidates and their own internal culture to create a productive work environment. We row in and assist our HR professional clients in managing challenging employment, equality and industrial relations issues. We aim to offer a commercially focused and clearly managed journey through these challenging situations. We share our client’s strong preference culturally for crisis prevention rather that crisis management.

Through frequent know-how updates, round tables, articles, lecturing and conference speaking, we help our recruitment agency clients to stay on top of this fast changing and highly complex legal area.

Experience

We share our recruitment clients’ culture by managing employment issues from a crisis prevention rather than a crisis management point of view where possible. Where litigation is unavoidable, we have recently acted for recruitment agencies in handling urgent and commercially sensitive High Court litigation in relation to restraint of trade, bullying and harassment, stress, psychological injury and emotional distress issues. We have also represented agencies before the Labour Court in respect of cases taken under the Protection of Employees (Temporary Agency Workers) Act 2012.

We advise clothing retail, grocery store retail, golf clubs, hotels, boutique guest houses and shopping centre management companies on employment, equality, industrial relations, mediation and litigation matters. We have particular experience in advising on collective issues and collective bargaining in the retail and leisure sectors.

Recent hot topics in the area to include legal implications for the retail and leisure industry arising from the Industrial Relations (Amendment) Act 2015 are included in our area of expertise. This sector is particularly interested in and concerned about the proposed reintroduction of registered employment agreements (REAs), a new statutory framework for establishing minimum rates of remuneration and conditions of employment.

Experience

We have experience in advising large multinational retailers in respect of their employment and HR needs. We regularly advise on issues in this sector such as TUPE, industrial relations and contractual issues.

We are currently advising employers in this sector on the reform of the law in respect of an employee’s right to engage in collective bargaining. We distill these complex legal changes into plain language and analyse what the new legislation means for employers and their relations with trade unions within the retail and leisure and other sectors.
